Trafalgar Square, London. 2019
As an artist, I think art is a way of expression. I give it a deeper meaning by transforming ordinary materials. Metaphor is an important feature of my works. I grew up in a small city in southern China. Then I lived in Beijing for seven years and in London for nearly two years. The experience of living in Beijing and London makes me think about the society I live in. In my works, you can find my reflection on the society, politics and history I live in. I think art is a practice and technology needs to be improved constantly.
I don't think there is any inspired art because I think inspiration is something that grows naturally after a long period of thinking and refining. I think experience is very important for artists. Different experiences lead to different thinking, and experience is something we can't learn by other ways of learning.
